Scott Whittaker

Dr. Whittaker received his Bachelor of Science (Hon Mathematics) and M.D. from the University of British Columbia.  He did internal medicine training and gastroenterology training at the University of Toronto followed by a Medical Research Council Fellowship in the field of nutrition under the supervision of Dr. K. N. Jeejeebhoy.  From 1984 to 1988, he was on active staff at UBC Hospital and since 1988 he has been on the active staff at St. Paul’s Hospital.

Dr. Whittaker is a gastroenterologist with specialized training in parenteral and enteral nutrition. He manages the medical aspects of a patient’s nutritional program. Dr. Whittaker monitors and adjusts a patient’s nutrition program as indicated by the patient’s medical status and progress. He works with other health care professionals in maintaining a patient’s overall health status as it relates to their nutrition.

On the one hand, Dr. Whittaker’s clinical interests are IBD and Nutrition, home parental nutrition and hereditary cancer. On the other hand, his research is mainly focused on outcomes in endoscopy and colon cancer screening.
